Retro for Work

Retro work wear

My mom took this pics for me when I came home from work and she was leaving after babysitting my daughter. We thought the tree backdrop would make it very junior prom, yes? I have been into dressing up a little for work, even though every time I do someone remarks on it. It's funny: I dress partly for myself, partly for others, but when people notice the effort, I often feel self-conscious about it!

One of my neighbors works on a photography project for our neighborhood and asked if she could take one of me. I was Tuesday's photo of the day! I actually really like one of the outtakes she didn't use, one of my mom and I:

Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack ($5)
Shoes: Target
Bag: Thrifted

  1. I've already commented on Flickr but I love this. The dress is gorgeous and the photo of you and your mom is so lovely.

  2. I love this color on you, especially with the animal-print shoes and cute glasses.

  3. I LOVE that picture of you and your mom! It's kind of making me tear up. It's so both of you. You look great. I love you in pink and your legs look amazing. Say hi to your mom for me!

  4. Did we get that cardigan together at the Nordstrom Rack in San Leandro or wherever? It's cute! Nice professional alteration on the dress too, fits you perfectly.

  5. Thanks lovelies!
Samira: Isn't that a cute shot of us? My neighbor is a good photographer!
I think I got this cardigan at the Mall of America, but I did get a brown eyelet cardigan at the San Leandro one that I still have. I am pretty sure both of these were $5, so, yay!

  6. Very Joan of Mad Men, to which we all can aspire!
